As Josh tries to re- group and move on with his life and career, he'll need to learn how to set boundaries if he's going to live so close to his med- dlesome-but-well-meaning par- ents and competitive brother. CBS presents a preview of one of the year's most highly an- ticipated comedies when "Young Sheldon" airs Monday, Sept. 25, before the show moves to its regular slot Thursday, Nov. 2. A spinoff of "The Big Bang Theory," the series introduces Iain Armitage ("Big Little Lies") as nine-year-old Sheldon Coo- per, the genius played by Jim Parsons ("Home," 2015) in "Big Bang." While Parsons narrates, viewers are taken back in time to East Texas, where a very gift- ed but naive young Sheldon tries to make sense of the world. "Young Sheldon's" cast in- cludes Zoe Perry ("Scandal") as the boy's fiercely protective mother. Perry's portrayal of Mary, a role originated by Laurie Metcalf ("Roseanne") in "The Big Bang Theory," is uncanny — as it should be, considering the fact that she's Metcalf's real-life daughter. Lance Barber ("The Comeback") gives viewers their first real glimpse at Sheldon's in- famous dad, George Sr., while the incomparable Annie Potts ("Designing Women") stars as the beloved Meemaw. Young ac- tors Raegan Revord ("Modern Family") and newcomer Mon- tana Jordan round out the cast as his sister, Missy, and brother, Georgie, respectively. That same evening, CBS breaks new ground with a unique comedy set in three dis- tinct time periods. Jack Dylan Grazer ("It," 2017), Bobby Moynihan ("Saturday Night Live") and John Larroquette ("Night Court") star as the same character, Alex Riley, in "Me, My- self & I," premiering Monday, Sept. 25. In 1991, 14-year-old Alex (Grazer) deals with the trauma of moving from Chicago to Los Angeles, where his mom, Maggie (Mandell Maughan, "Bajillion Dollar Propertie$") marries a pilot named Ron (Brian Unger, "The Daily Show"). When the show moves to present day, Alex (Moynihan) struggles with the demise of his marriage, rely- ing on his best friend, Darryl (Ja- leel White, "Family Matters"), to help him get back on track. Fi- nally, flash-forward sequences set in 2042 show Alex (Larro- quette) as a highly successful businessman who announces his retirement and reconnects with his high school crush, Eleanor (Sharon Lawrence, "NYPD Blue").
