September isn't typically thought of as a
colorful month.
that honor goes more to October, with
its vibrant leaves, or even April, bursting
with the yellows and reds of daffodils
and tulips.
this year, though, September may be the
most colorful month on the calendar, at
least in our area.
For the first 10 days, artists will take to
downtown and Midtown harrisburg. by
the time they're done, our city will have 10
new murals, painted by local, national and
even international artists.
You know that drab, brown wall by your
office? Soon, that could be full of color
and life, thanks to organizer Sprocket
Mural Works. be sure to visit their website
and Facebook page (and see their ad
and brochure in theburg) for all the
events associated with the 10-day-long
harrisburg Mural Festival.
And, to make this event even grander, the
final day of the festival coincides with the
Art Association's annual gallery Walk.
So, you get two for one—one walk, two
tremendous artistic experiences.
Oh, and did i mention that the city's
annual Kipona Festival takes place in the
midst of all this? how will anyone get any
work done the first week of September?
Somehow, we hope you'll find a few spare
moments to leaf through this month's
issue of theburg. Yes, you'll find your
share of culture, but you'll also discover
stories ranging broadly from personal
profiles to business to food and drink.
And, as it usually does, our September
issue has a sharper focus on our area's
rapidly growing Latino community.
So, art, more art, outdoor fun and theburg.
Sounds about perfect to me.
