The Daily Star, Oneonta, N.Y., Friday, August 4, 2017 20 By Lindsay Scharf TV Media Reality star soars: Phil Ke- oghan, host of "The Amazing Race," takes viewers on a sky- ward adventure in his home country of New Zealand in a new series airing on the Smithsonian Channel. "Flying High With Phil Keoghan" pre- mieres Sunday, Aug. 6. The show treats viewers to some amazing views and land- scapes, as well as the chance to meet celebrities, including the mastermind of the epic Lord of the Rings trilogy, Peter Jackson. Also featured is Emma Gilmour, a rally car driver and farmer who uses technology in a unique way that helps her herd sheep. Keoghan proclaimed his excitement for the series, and discussed the show's fo- cus in a statement, saying, "It's the people that give places their own personality, and that was the foundation for creating this special." Think of it as the travel guide to a beautiful region, but with a lot more humor and exciting human-interest sto- ries. Tune in Sunday, Aug. 6, when "Flying High With Phil Keoghan" premieres on Smithsonian Channel. Car nuts assemble: Twen- ty-five-year-old television newbie Carlos Becerra hosts Discovery's newest car series — "Carspotting" premieres Monday, Aug. 7, on the cable channel. Carlos, his brother Pedro and their close friend, Niko (who is hailed as a "car savant," which sounds im- pressive), run a business that revolves around recovering old cars and restoring them. Discovery is giving these young, brash men their mo- ment in the spotlight, and they're determined to show America what they can do. The show follows the guys as they hunt for abandoned and destroyed cars in the Pa- cific Northwest. When they find something that shows promise, the possible dia- mond in the rough is hauled back to one of their shops, where the team goes to work deftly restoring the grubby old clunkers into showroom- worthy gems. Discovery ordered six epi- sodes of the series right off the bat, which is a good sign for the young restoration crew. While there are no ma- jor celebrities set to stop by, you will catch a glimpse of a few local stars, including for- mer mayor of Lynden, Wash- ington, Daryl Brennick. To see Carlos and his team in action, catch the first episode of "Carspotting," airing Mon- day, Aug. 7, on Discovery. realtalk B/The Pine Shop 6x7.5 www.thepineshoponeonta.com www.thepineshoponeonta.com Serving Oneonta and surrounding Communities Since 1974 Exterior Super Coat White Reg. $34.95 Sale $24.69 Interior Flat Super Coat Reg. $24.95 Sale $18 Poly Lumber Maintenance Free Lawn Furniture Save 10% on 2 or more pieces Quality Upholstered By Friendship, ComFort Design, Klassner, Norwalk & Temple.
