www.sprocketmuralworks.com After seeing exponential growth in 2016, Sprocket Mural Works is excited to announce their plans for the first annual harrisburg Mural Festival to be held from September 1 through September 10, 2017. bookended by Kipona and the harrisburg gallery Walk, the Mural Festival will add to the feeling of cultural excitement in the city through the creation of 10 murals in ten days. influenced by successful mural festivals in cities such as Portland, richmond, and Vancouver, the harrisburg Mural Festival will bring varied artists, property owners, businesses, friends and neighbors together for a short, concentrated period of artistic activity. in addition to the painting of murals, the festival will feature artists talks and meet and greets, and end with a grand celebration in downtown harrisburg. "in one communal celebration of public art, we seek to beautify but also inspire our community," said Sprocket co-founder Jeff Copus. "by concentrating on one large event, rather than individual projects throughout the year, we can maximize our efforts and gain efficiencies of cost, manpower and organizational capacity. And with the mix of artists, participants and volunteers that will be engaged in the mural festival, we will be encouraging the creative spirit of our community on our grandest scale yet." Planning for the festival is underway, but there are still opportunities for local organizations, businesses, artists and individuals to get involved. Sprocket is looking for additional partners and sponsors. help from the harrisburg community will be crucial in making harrisburg Mural Festival a success. interested parties should get in touch via the Sprocket website at www.sprocketmuralworks.com. celebrate with us!
