Ryan was joined on stage by Gov. Scott Walker, Sen. Ron Johnson, Vice President Mike Pence, President Donald Trump and Foxconn Founder and CEO Terry Gou. "This is a once-in-a- century opportunity for our state and our coun- try, and Wisconsin is ready," Walker said in a statement. "We are call- ing this development 'Wisconn Valley,' because we believe this will have a transformational effect on Wisconsin, just as Silicon Valley trans- for med the San Francisco Bay Area. Foxconn plans to bring the future of high-tech manufacturing to America, and Wisconsin is going to lead the way. We are honored Foxconn chose Wisconsin, and I thank Terry Gou for all he has done to make this 2 • Milwaukee County Post • July 28, 2017 Foxconn to invest $10 billion in Wisconsin "Operation Broken Heart" combines efforts of ICAC Post Staff MILWAUKEE — The Wisconsin Department of Justice announced July 19 the arrests of more than 80 suspected child predators during two ini- tiatives this spring, one of them a national effort. "Operation Broken Heart" combined the efforts of 61 Inter net Crimes Against Children task forces around the nation in April and May. In Wisconsin, more than 80 arrests were made. That figure includes 16 arrests made in an effort called "Operation New Hope," a week long pro- gram targeting child exploitation and online crimes in Wisconsin. The ICAC unit also trained 480 law enforce- ment officers and other professionals on tech- niques to investigate and prosecute internet-relat- ed cases, and gave pre- sentations on online safe- ty to over 7,000 people. Nationwide, ICAC groups arrested 1,012 suspected child preda- tors from more than 40 states, following the investigation of more than 69,000 cases. The national crackdown tar- geted offenders who pos- sess, manufacture, and distribute child pornog- raphy; engage in online enticement of children for sexual purposes; engage in child sex traf- ficking; or traveled abroad for the purpose of sexually abusing foreign children. The operation included more than 4,500 federal, state, and local law enforcement agen- cies across the U.S. In a news release, Attor ney General Brad Schimel said, "Inter net crimes against children are often the most com- plex cases law enforce- ment and prosecutors take on, involving com- plicated web networks that cross state lines. Operations like this one allow law enforcement agencies across the nation to work together in a focused manner to lock up these predators. DOJ and Wisconsin's ICAC task forces' work to arrest more than 80 sus- pected criminals and train so many people on internet safety will help keep our children safe and our communities strong."
