The large crowd at the grocery store is a clear tes- timony that people are getting ready for a wonderful day of family and fun. The spirit of excitement is building as people plan trips to a favorite location or arrange for family gatherings. When the day arrives and people gath- er together for the festivities, there will be freshly grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, lemonade, watermelon and homemade ice cream. The day will eventually turn to evening as the sound of patriotic mu- sic and fi reworks fi ll the air. The burst- ing colors and loud booms will captivate our minds as we watch the grand fi nale, marking the end of an eventful day. We will tiredly return to our homes with pre- cious memories of time spent with those whom we love. In the midst of all the enthusiasm, we must never forget the reason for our celebration. There should be no doubt that we live in the greatest country in the world. The undeserved honor of being called an "American" is one of the most wonderful God-given privileges bestowed upon each of us. The blessings and free- doms we enjoy make us the envy of the entire planet and should never be taken for granted. This time of commemoration should be a reminder that we are all part of something much bigger than ourselves. As the day ends, our mutual prayer should be, "God (Please) Bless America!"
