Outdoor remodeling projects have some of the highest returns at resale, according to last year's Remodeling Impact Report: Outdoor Features, released by the National Associa- tion of Realtors and National Association of Landscape Profes- sionals. But even if you aren't antici- pating putting a for sale sign in the front yard, the right land- scaping can increase the amount of enjoyment you get from your home as well. "Landscaping tends to be an afterthought," said landscape architect William Wandsnider, owner and registered landscape architect at Wandsnider Land- scape Architect in Menomonee Falls. "But in terms of providing the aesthetics that add to the home's enjoyment, it's one of the most inexpensive ways to improve the curb appeal and enjoyment of the home." According to the National Association of Realtors, the top value-adding projects include: ■ Landscape upgrade ■ New patio ■ Standard lawn care ■ Outdoor fireplace ■ Outdoor fire pit. But how you execute the proj- ect is equally important. Wand- snider provided his tips for a suc- cessful landscape renovation while getting the most value for your dollar.
