Dubbed "After Dark," the program brings togeth- er the show's stars, crew members, fans and experts to discuss the epi- sodes, go behind the scenes and talk about what might be next for the protagonists. Series star Palmer hosts the series, while O'Neil, Lem- ke, Mallari, Ferland and Cross are all expected to appear in "After Dark" throughout the season. Cre- ator and showrunner Joe Mallozi ("Stargate SG-1") is also on deck for the aftershow, which will be available online after each week's new episode. Mallozi and co-creator Paul Mullie ("Stargate Atlantis") report- edly intended for "Dark Matter" to be a TV series first, but the story ac- tually originated in a graphic novel featuring art by Garry Brown that was published by Dark Horse Com- ics. Comic books have long provid- ed fodder for TV shows and mov- ies, but lately, comic characters have leapt from page to screen — big and small — in record num- bers. The popularity of the comic series, which was published as a monthly between January and April 2012, led to a TV deal for Mal- lozi and Mullie. Dark Matter fits in perfectly with Syfy's renewed focus on appealing to fans of science fiction and fanta- sy, prompted by the recent boom in the popularity of those genres.
