Page 22 Welcome to the June issue of Di- versity Rules Magazine! It is Pride Month. Let the celebrations be- gin! Every June we remember those who held the first pride event. However, it was not a parade or a celebration. It was a rebellion against police persecution. It was about queer folk taking a stand and holding their ground in solidarity. It was an uprising in the streets of New York City that would usher in the modern day gay rights move- ment. We must never forget our brothers and sisters that took that bold step and decided they were not going to take it any longer. Our queer youth of today tend to forget why we even have pride celebrations. To many it is simply a time to party, to get drunk and have fun. It is our responsibility to always keep the flame of that fateful hot, summer night in NYC alive. We must also not heed those who say we need to "assimilate" and fo- cus less on making ourselves stand out. We are different. We will al- ways be different. We are NOT like everyone else. We must con- tinue to celebrate our individuality and remember those before us who put so much on the line almost 50 years ago and work to preserve the rights and privileges won since that June night in 1969. e June feature is Pierre de Vil- liers, a return guest from a number of years ago. is time Pierre talks with us about his Subconscious Specialist role, and how he helps people tap into their subconscious to help them move forward and get beyond issues they may be ex- periencing. I hope you enjoy this month's is- sue. I also hope to see many of you at a pride event celebrating the in- dificuals you are! Diversity Rules Magazine PO Box 72 Oneonta, NY 13820 James R.
