Please have your funeral home send us your loved ones' obituaries to events@rutherfordweekly.com ©Community First Media Community First Media Death has a way of revealing to us our own mortality. There is nothing more impactful than the unspoken lessons that death teaches each of us. We may be able to get by with denying its reality or being too busy to think about it, but when death enters the room it will bring our life to a screeching halt. If we allow it, em- bracing the certainty of death can have a life-changing impact upon us. One of the greatest lessons that it teach- es is that the people who we know will not be here forever. Sometimes we overlook opportunities to show our love toward others, because we think that tomorrow will afford us another opportunity. Death teaches us that whatever good needs to be done should be done today. A word of encouragement, an act of forgiveness or just some time spent showing we care are things which cannot wait for another day. How many times have we picked up the paper and read an obituary and with the sad news also comes a feeling of regret? Another important message that death speaks to us is that of an unfi nished life. Much has been said in the last few years about "bucket lists". We all have certain goals or tasks which need to be completed before death's intrusion. Places to go, peo- ple to see and experiences to enjoy are just a few things that often go unfulfi lled at the time of death. It is sad but we often are too busy "making a living" that we forget to live. Let us all take heed to words spoken by the Psalmist, "LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days." Wise is the person who learns about life from one of its greatest teachers, death.
