Driven by her compassion for all animals, her greatest reward is making a difference in their lives at a local level. Everett McDonough, holds an M.B.A., and is a retired Senior Vice President of Security Pacific Corporation. With his extensive professional background in finance, analytics, operations, and banking, as a valued Board member he consistently provides a constructive voice, keeping the Board on its toes and at its best. Board member and P.E.T.S. "Feasting on Kindness" program coordinator, ten-year resident Clarissa Ortner, brings her desire to keep animals out of the shelter to the P.E.T.S. website she designed. Building a site packed with multiple features, she hopes that the public will turn to it for information and humane education. Board member Samantha Haman is part of a three-generation family-owned walnut grower and processor in Tehama County. With her strong ties to the community, hands-on attitude, and experience in production, she is the go-to leader of P.E.T.S. events. P.E.T.S. path has not deviated since three individuals sat down together seven years ago. To all the volunteers involved it has been a labor of love. The organization has always been about doing the right thing for animals who cannot speak for themselves. P.E.T.S. gives the animals a voice. For everyone involved, each adoption into a loving home represents victory. For every spay and neuter done, another generation of unwanted animals is prevented. For every individual reached with lessons of compassion and caring for the animals, another chance to end abuse and cruelty occurs. P.E.T.S.' efforts have not only helped many of the community's creatures, but they have also built strong alliances of people who care about animals. The ripple of compassion put into motion on that short trip in 2010 continues to grow. And, for the animals of Tehama County, that is what P.E.T.S. is all about!
