What began in 1985 as a way to help make a difference in the community has endured and grown over the years as countless lives and hearts have been warmed by the generosity of those living in Tehama County. Recycle the Warmth had humble beginnings at Red Bluff's River Park Marina building — as well as a time or two at the former PG&E office in the Masonic Lodge on Main Street. After several years of competing with the ducks and geese at the park, the program was invited to move from the park to Bethel Church, now High Point Assembly. After a decade or so at the church, it became part of LIFT Tehama and moved out to the fairgrounds. Those working on the project had a lot to learn regarding how to get the word out and build trust with the homeless population. They are a cautious lot. Folks didn't flock to the event in the numbers anticipated. The first year, only 5 or 6 folks came by, but the group figured that was a few more that would be better off than they were before.
