Tehama - The Magazine

May 2017 , TEHAMA - THE MAGAZINE 19 an outdoor event, but amazingly, the festival has only been postponed once, in 2016, due to storms. Attendance has always been strong. Starting in 1998, Ginger Gilchrist laid a foundation for engaging not just the county to attend, but also the region. Terri Buchner supported the outreach. She designed and made road signs, banners, and won the first festival logo contest. Marilyn Long appreciates what it does for the community. "It takes a lot of interested citizens to bring a community together. Not only does the community benefit, but also the school, the teachers and administration and, of course, the students. Whether sponsors, vendors, or the hundreds of volunteers, they profit from serving and being a contributor to a successful event." "Our volunteers are amazing," said Gilles. "There would be no 20th annual event without them." To learn more, visit www.dairyvillefestival. org.
