This year's Haubstadt Sommerfest will not only celebrate the community's rich heritage, but also highlight all of Haubstadt's outdoor offerings. The annual Sommerfest celebration kicks off on Thursday, June 15, and runs through Saturday, June 17. Haubstadt Sommerfest, Inc. is a local volunteer service organization, and the festival serves as a fundraiser for the organization. In turn, all the money raised is then donated back to the com- munity or is geared towards special projects, such as the recent addition of more soccer fields. Most of the events are on the grounds of the Old Haubstadt High School gym, located along West Street. Highlights of the festival include: the Little Miss and music from DJ Trevor on Thursday night, a talent show and music from Nocturnal on Friday, and of course the Laufenfest, parade, and music from Torpedo Vegas on Saturday. More information about the event, including a complete map of the race course, can be found online at www. haubstadtsommerfest.com and www. laufenfest.com.
