Page 24 - Rutherford Weekly 828-248-1408 www.rutherfordweekly.com Thursday, September 6-September 12, 2012 JIMMY "FAT CAT" HILL Jimmy "Fat Cat" Hill, age 54 of Forest City, NC, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2012. Jimmy was born November 11, 1957 in Muscogee County, Georgia to the late Boyd Oren Hill and Carolyn Honeycutt Hill who resides in Forest City. He has worked for Kennedy Trucking for several years as an over the road truck driver. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He loved car racing and fishing. He was known as a tenderhearted man. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Hall Hill; grandparents, Otho and Mary C. Honeycutt and Tom and Cora Hill. Besides his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Mary Hill of Forest City and Jamie Ann Hill of Shelby; one sister, Terri Stewart and husband, Wayne of Inman, SC and one niece, Angie Hernandez of Forest City. Funeral services were conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Michael Cash and Reverend Sam Henderson officiating. Interment followed in the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery of Mooresboro. Harrelson Funeral Home is caring for Mr. Hill's Family. RACHEL JONES CRAWLEY Rachel Jones Crawley, 80, of Mooresboro, passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2012. A native of Rutherford County, she was born on August 8, 1932, a daughter of the late Theron and Viola Harris Jones. She was retired from Cone Mills Corporation. She was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. She was a loving, caring person who always put others first. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Shuford Crawley and one brother, Dan Jones. She is survived by her sons, Randy Crawley and wife Betty of Ellenboro and Myron Crawley of Mooresboro; one daughter, Angela Head and husband Doug of Rutherfordton; one sister, Daphine Greene of Mooresboro; two grandchildren, Matthew and Maria Head. Funeral services were held at Holly Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Wade Huntley officiating. Burial followed at Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043. McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral Home is serving the Crawley family. THURMAN MAX MR. RAMSEY Mr. Thurman Max Ramsey age 83 went home to be with the Lord on September 2, 2012. A native of Rutherford County he was a son of the late Max and Annie Clontz Ramsey, a retired machinist, a member of Main Street Baptist Church and an avid bluegrass musician. Thurman was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in battle. f e d Left to cherish his memory are his wife Nell Myers Ramsey of the home, one daughter Tina Ramsey Dobbins and husband Timothy of Ellenboro, NC; two sons – Terry Max Ramsey and wife Dena of Forest City, NC and Tim Ramsey and wife Kathy of Weddington, NC; one brother Robert Ramsey and wife Jean of Lattimore, NC; two stepsons – Brian Beane and wife Holly of Forest City, NC and Timmy Beane and wife DaLea of Concord, NC. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Louise England Ramsey. Funeral services were held at Main Street Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Brewer officiating. Concluding services were held at Eternal Hills Cemetery (formerly Sunset Memorial Park) with military honors provided by The Rutherford County Veterans Honor Guard. Cro as owe's s Mortuary is s a sisting the Family. BETTY BENDER SWIFT Betty Bender Swift, age 87, of Bostic, NC passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2012. She was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania on December 8, 1924 to the late Cyril A. Bender and Cecil Miller Bender. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Swift. She was raised in Newark Valley, NY and later moved to Jacksonville, FL as a young woman. She then relocated to Bostic in 1997. She was retired from the Federal Government. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Arenburg and Cheryl Carbonetti both of Bostic; two sons, Lindsey Swift and wife, Monica of Bostic and Robert Swift of Jacksonville. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Sherrandy Swift, Tracie Lawson, Travis Arenburg, Anthony Carbonetti, Jeffrey Swift, Kandace Swift; three great granchildren, Rachel Lawson, Charlie Lawson and Dominic Carbonetti. No formal services are planned. Harrelson Funeral Home is caring for the Family. EURAL MORRIS Eural Morris age 66, of Rutherfordton passed away on September 1, 2012. Eural was the son of the late William Morris, Sr. and Louise Hamilton Morris. Left to cherish his memory are his brother Charlie Morris (Mamie) of Rutherfordton, NC; Sister Estelle Abrams (Lemie) of Polk County, NC; Sister Dovie Fay Robinson of Long Island, NY; Sister Mary Ruth Nesbitt of Long Island, NY; Sister Hattie Abrams (Robert) of Rutherfordton, NC; Sister Marilene Morris of Charlotte, NC. Eural is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Walter Morris, Norman Morris, Oric Morris and William Morris, Jr. Sr. and Louise Morris. Crowe's Mortuary is assisting the family. VIRGINIA GRACE MAYSE STREET Virginia Grace Mayse Street age 88, of Rutherfordton, passed away on September 2nd 2012. Virginia was a member at First Baptist Church of Spindale. She was the daughter of the late Roland and Mollie Hardin Mayse. Left to cherish her memory are her nephews Steve Powell of Inman, SC and Bob Powell of Macon, GA. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Charles Street and her sister Esther Powell. P Powell of Macon, GA. Crowe's Mortuary is assisting the family. JULIE T. ARMAS Julie T. Armas age 78 passed away August 23, 2012. A native of New York she was retired from the Miami-Dade School System with thirty years of service as an educator. A member of Fairfield Mountains Chapel, Julie was active in the church choir and was known for her solo performances at church and community events. Left to cherish her memory are her children Tony Armas and wife Nimisha Dabhi-Armas; Linda Shumaker and husband David; two grandchildren – Ashviya and Rebecca, one great grandchild-Jacob and one sister Nina Tepedino. A celebration of life was held at Fairfield Mountains Chapel. A reception for family and friends followed the service.
