Please have your funeral home send us your loved ones' obituaries to events@rutherfordweekly.com ©Community First Media Community First Media For several years, the Cot- ton Industry has had an ad cam- paign which promotes cotton as the "fabric of our lives." There is no doubt that most people in Rutherford Coun- ty understand how fabric is produced. The intertwining of yarn or thread will create a roll of fabric. Fabric is basi- cally made up of hundreds of threads woven together. Our life is like that fabric, it is produced when the lives of others are intertwined with ours. Our lives are made up of relation- ships. If a person started listing all of the infl uences in his or her life, there is no doubt the list would contain sev- eral pages. The list would include all of our family members, friends, men- tors, co-workers, neighbors and ac- quaintances. It would surprise us how many people have been or are a part of the fabric of our life. One of the reasons we grieve when someone dies is because they were a part of the fabric. We were connected to them. Simply put, they played a vital role in our life. It doesn't matter how much we try to prepare for the death of someone, when they are gone it is almost like a part of our world is missing. The fabric has been altered and will never be the same. The amount of love we invest in those we know determines how much the fabric is changed when they are gone. Let us all be thankful for those who have become a part of the fabric of our life and honor them when they are gone.
