By RICH ROVITO Special to the Post MILWAUKEE — Prosecutors charged three Milwaukee men this week in the brazen killing of on-duty city building inspector Greg "Ziggy" Zyszkiewicz on March 22 during an apparent attempted carjacking. Meanwhile, Alderman Tony Zeilinski is introducing legislation requesting that the state Legislature stiffen Wisconsin's criminal penalties for violent crimes. All five suspects in Zyszkiewicz's murder and attempted carjacking had extensive criminal histories, Zielinski said. "We're not talking about harmless nonviolent offenders," he said. "While steps are needed to reform the judicial system so prison cells aren't wasted on peo- ple who don't belong there, we need tougher laws to deal with both adults and juveniles who have a demonstrated history of violence." Deshaun K. Scott, 17, Qhualun D. Shaw, 17, and Eric J. Smiley Jr., 21, are named in a criminal complaint in connec- tion to Zyszkiewicz's killing. Scott, the alleged trigger man, is charged with first-degree reck- less homicide. Shaw and Smiley face felony murder charges. All three are charged with armed robbery, as parties to a crime. Bail for Scott and Smiley has been set at $500,000 each.
