Does happiness just happen? Or is it something
that can be courted, encouraged and practiced?
According to the Kalpa Bhadra Kadampa Buddhist
Center, it's definitely the latter. Last month, the center
hosted "Meditation and the Art of Happiness" at
Midtown Scholar Bookstore, teaching participants
basic meditation techniques for healthy and positive
thinking. As these photos can attest, these techniques
just might work as attendees were delighted to pose
and smile for us.

It's not every day that a true icon visits Harrisburg. So, it
may be no surprise that a large group of art-lovers gathered
last month at the Susquehanna Art Museum to meet the
legendary figure painter, Philip Pearlstein. Pearlstein was
in town for the opening of the exhibit, "Philip Pearlstein:
Seventy-Five Years of Painting," a review of his lifetime
of work. Even if you weren't on hand to meet the great
man, you still can see his work, as the exhibit runs through
May 21.
