Vice President,
Ortiz Contracting Group
Peter Ortiz, focuses his exper-
tise in the mechanical construc-
tion industry. Beginning in 1998,
while home on summer break
from Michigan State University,
Ortiz began his professional jo-
urney working on construction
sites as a welder. Since gradua-
ting with a Bachelor of Science
in Building Construction Mana-
gement, he has gone on to ma-
nage some of the largest projects
across the Midwest, and over the
last few years he has directed his
talents on growing communities
right here in Chicago.
Ortiz joined his father in
2015 at Ortiz Contracting
Group, where he serves as vice
president. In his first year, Or-
tiz helped to triple company
revenue. Ortiz Contracting is
Chicago's premier minority-
owned mechanical contrac-
tor. Exciting projects include
a $2 million piping retrofit of
the world's largest commer-
cial bakery, Mondelez Chicago
Bakery, and construction of a
new luxury hotel on Chicago's
South Side. Ortiz Contracting
also has current projects at
McCormick Place HQ Marriott
Hotel and Event Center and the
University of Chicago.
As an employer, Ortiz looks
to hire local minority talent who
embody the company's mission
of performance, honesty, and
integrity. He loves to see the joy
completed projects bring to va-
rious communities and neigh-
borhoods across the city.
