Tuesday, the Waukesha Common Council and several administrators ventured to a municipality they have come to know well: Oak Creek, which has agreed to sell Waukesha water via Lake Michigan. While Oak Creek and Waukesha have a number of dis- parities, Oak Creek was grappling with the same issue — the future of its municipal building — throughout much of the last decade. But after a lengthy series of reviews, municipal leaders in the Milwaukee County community embarked on a grandiose endeav- or that brought a new municipal building into the heart of a mixed- use development: Drexel Town Square. "We've made (the civic center) the centerpiece of a larger devel- opment," Oak Creek Mayor Steve Scaffidi said. "It was the right call to make this move." Oak Creek opens doors for Waukesha visit See OAK CREEK on Page 17 Leaders tour new city hall as decisions loom Dave Fidlin/Special to the Post Doug Seymour, left, Oak Creek director of community development, discusses the city's customer service approach in a welcome center within the new municipal building. Listening are Waukesha Mayor Shawn Reilly, center, and Waukesha City Administrator Kevin Lahner, right.
