Center includes Old Courthouse and the
Sheriff's Residence and Jail. The 1889
Courthouse Museum offers self-guided tours
through 12 unique exhibits, including a pink
1950's kitchen highlighting the local Aluminum
Cookware Industry, the 27 room Zinn
Dollhouse with over 1,000 hand-made minia-
tures, and an authentic Woodland Indian's
wigwam with a trading post. All exhibits
include interactive activities such as touch-me
artifacts, videos, scavenger hunts, and sniff
boxes - to smell the history. The beautifully
restored Courtroom with its stained glass
windows and painted ceilings shows off the
work of early Wisconsin craftsmen. Learn how
the County Sheriff and his family lived with
prisoners staying only a few feet from their
parlor. This 1886 jail-house is one of the few
remaining intact structures in the United
States. Tours are guided; please call ahead to
make a reservation for a tour.
