it's part of the multiple award-
winning Chicago franchise. "Chi-
cago Justice" premieres Sunday,
March 5, on NBC.
Justice, privatized: Chicago's
streets are going to the billion-
aires. When his best friend is mur-
dered and the cops are unable to
find the killer, a billionaire busi-
nessman decides to take justice
into his own hands. No, this isn't
the latest Batman series; instead,
Fox's newest cop drama takes a
look at what a modern, privatized
police force could do for a trou-
bled city. "APB," a show inspired
by an article in the New York
Times by David Amsden, pre-
mieres Monday, Feb. 6, on Fox.
Golden Globe and Emmy
nominee Justin Kirk ("Weeds")
stars as Gideon Reeves, the bil-
lionaire who is determined to
solve Chicago's violent crime
problems. After taking over the
city's 13th district, he rips down
and rebuilds its police detach-
ment, making it the most mod-
ern in the world. It's smarter, it's
faster and it's better — in his
eyes, at least.
Natalie Martinez ("Under the
Dome") stars opposite Kirk as Det.
Murphy. She's a savvy and ambi-
tious cop who is willing to give her
new boss's methods a chance,
which puts her at odds with the
rest of the district's skeptical police
force.
Ernie Hudson ("Oz"), Taylor
Handley ("Vegas") and Tamberla
Perry ("Boss") star as Det. Mur-
phy's colleagues on the police
force, albeit ones far more resis-
tant to changing the time-tested
methods of policing that they're
used to, while Caitlin Stasey
("Reign") rounds out the cast as
Gideon's tech officer, who is put
in charge of the technological
transition.
Technology and policing com-
bine in "APB," Fox's latest police
procedural, premiering Monday,
Feb. 6.
Sunday play date: Once a
year, a great sporting event takes
the country by storm. While TV au-
diences gather in their living
rooms from coast to coast, some
of the greatest players in the coun-
try enter a stadium and throw
themselves against each other in
an energetic display of fun.
It may sound a lot like the Super
Bowl, but this is a far cuter event:
Animal Planet's "Puppy Bowl" is
back this year, airing Super Bowl
Sunday, Feb. 5.
In a special stadium, some of
the cutest pups from shelters
around the country assemble for a
football-themed play date. It's an
adorable piece of counter-pro-
gramming for less sports-inclined
viewers, and it's a reminder for
families looking for a pet that
adoption is always a great option.
