As 2017 gets under- way, some of the visual signs of the forthcoming downtown Milwaukee streetcar line will begin appearing. With a number of behind-the- scenes maneuvers at or near com- pletion, construction of the oft- discussed project is about to move full steam ahead as the city's downtown continues its metamor- phosis in the next few years. On a broad scale, Mike Fabishak, CEO of the General Contractors of Greater Milwaukee, said he believes the new infrastructure will add to the city's employment base across a variety of sectors. "For the city to invest in some- thing that is going to have an effect on its tax base, its quality of life, its capacity for development, affecting what I would character- ize as thousands of jobs — we're all behind it," Fabishak said on behalf of the organization.
