Ray Yeager's photography is inspired by
the beauty of nature, focusing on wildlife,
the ocean, and the night skies. While grow-
ing up, he vacationed at many of the beach
towns along the Jersey Shore and developed
a love for the coastal landscape. Many of his
works attempt to capture the natural beauty
of the local beaches, state parks, and star
filled skies.
His work can be seen and purchased at
Flying Saucers in Asbury Park, Everybody's
General Store in Point Pleasant Beach,
and OPI Gallery in Sea Girt.

Above: Eastern Bluebirds, Toms River.
One winter, I was able to observe many eastern bluebirds for an entire month. A small
flock arrived in the woods near my home during a snowstorm. It was exciting to watch
them fly between the snow covered branches. The contrast between their vibrant blue
color against the white snow was amazing to see. I think they are one of the most
beautiful birds in nature.
Opposite page, top: Red-bellied Woodpecker, Toms River.
The red-bellied woodpecker has welcomed me first thing in the morning with its loud
pecking many times. Their bright red heads make them a favorite to photograph. Red-
bellied woodpeckers are constantly climbing the trunks and branches of trees. They
also have a very distinct and familiar call.
Opposite page, bottom: Northern Cardinal, Toms River.
The red color of this male cardinal is breathtaking. They are usually very timid birds.
Cardinals are always seen in pairs. If you see one, surely the mate is not far away.
They are most active during the hours surrounding sunrise and sunset. Some believe
cardinals are visiting friends or relatives that have passed. I am always happy to see
a cardinal.
