TV Media Weekly | September 17 - 23, 2016 Sunday morning | 7 By Andrew Warren TV Media Fresh faces on Fox: Fall pre- miere season has arrived at last, and it's not just the newly pre- miering shows that have fresh faces on screen, returning shows are bulking up their casts as well. Two of Fox's hits in particular are stocking their rosters with new blood. The third season of the Bat- man-themed "Gotham" and the sophomore season of "Lucifer" both premiere Monday, Sept. 19, on Fox, with a bevy of new faces adding to the already excellent casts that these shows boast. "Gotham" is expected to pick up half a year after the events that rocked the city at the end of the show's second season. Joining an already stellar cast that includes Ben Mackenzie ("The O.C."), Donal Logue ("Vikings"), Camren Bicon- dova ("Battlefield America," 2012) and more, Maggie Geha ("All My Children") has taken over the role of the villainous Poison Ivy from Clare Foley ("Sinister," 2012), and is set to play a slightly older version of the classic Batman character from now on. Also joining "Gotham's" cast, but as a brand-new character, is Ja- mie Chung ("The Hangover Part II," 2011). She's been cast as Valer- ie Vale, a character who has popped up now and again in DC's comics, and usually has a connec- tion with Bruce Wayne (David Ma- zouz, "Touch"). "Lucifer's" second season also features some new faces. The show, which, like "Gotham," is based on a DC comic, is a police procedural that follows along as the prince of darkness himself, played by Tom Ellis ("Miranda"), gives up his kingdom and finds a new home in Los Angeles, where he helps the LAPD with their inves- tigations. Tricia Helfer ("Battlestar Galac- tica") joins as a series regular, along with Michael Imperioli ("The Sopranos"). The pair of newcomers are taking on the roles of Lucifer's estranged family: Helfer as his mother and Imperioli as his broth- er. Aimee Garcia ("Dexter") has also joined the cast as Ella Lopez, a new forensic scientist with the LAPD. The superhero and supernatural dramas return with bigger casts Monday, Sept. 19, on Fox.
