Luckily for the six million viewers or so who hung in there through season 1, big secrets will be re- vealed in the first couple of epi- sodes, including — according to Gero — Jane's real name and at least some of her back story. "Blindspot's" freshman season was a bona fide hit, and NBC was so pleased, it was renewed less than halfway through the season. "We are over the moon with the success of 'Blindspot,' and want to thank our producers and amazing cast for creating one of the most riveting shows on televi- sion," said NBC exec Jennifer Sal- ke. "We literally can't wait to see what the second season will bring." They aren't the only ones. The thrilling first season captured the attention of millions of fans with the story of a conspiracy as it be- came clear that Doe was no ordi- nary missing person. With a variety of combat and language skills, she quickly established herself as any- thing but a damsel in distress. Such strong female characters are popping up everywhere in prime time, and Alexander is well suited to take on such a role. After all, who could forget her turn as As- gardian warrior Sif in Kenneth Branagh's ("Hamlet," 1996) su- perhero film "Thor" (2011), as well as its sequels? She's also re- prised her role as Sif in two epi- sodes of ABC's "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Her fierce portrayal of Doe helped earn "Blindspot" top ratings in the key 18 to 49 de- mographic last season, a feat NBC no doubt is hoping the show will match in its sophomore season. Australian actor Stapleton is back again this season as Weller and Doe continue to search for an- swers about her true identity and the tattoos that cover her body. At the end of last season, Weller had been promoted to head of the FBI's New York branch, a promo- tion that seems to be somehow connected to Doe's tattoos, since previous investigations into her mysterious ink eliminated other candidates for the position. A for- mer child actor star of the Austra- lian soap "Neighbours," Stapleton has proven himself in such films as "December Boys" (2007) and "Animal Kingdom" (2010), as well as the television series "The Secret Life of Us" and "Strike Back." Sullivan Stapleton and Jaimie Alexander star in "Blindspot"
