A good lead can make or break a prime-time run as audiences settle into viewing pat- terns, and NBC hopes to nab view- ers early with one of last season's top performers. Jaimie Alexander ("Thor," 2011) returns as Jane Doe, a mysterious tattooed woman with no memory of her past life in the drama "Blind- spot," which returns for season 2 beginning Wednesday, Sept. 14, on NBC. The first season chronicled the mystery surrounding Doe after she showed up naked in Times Square and covered in tattoos, many of which contained clues that helped the FBI solve crimes. Sullivan Stapleton ("Animal King- dom," 2010) co-stars as lead in- vestigator Special Agent Kurt Weller, whose name was found tattooed on Doe's body. "Blindspot's" main cast also in- cludes Rob Brown ("Treme") as Special Agent Edgar Reade, a member of the team who is skepti- cal of Doe. Audrey Esparza ("Float- ing Sunflowers," 2014) portrays former NYPD cop-turned-FBI agent Tasha Zapata, who is hiding her gambling addiction from the team. Ashley Johnson ("What Women Want," 2000) is FBI forensic sci- ence expert Special Agent Patter- son, while Ukweli Roach ("Eternal Law") plays FBI psychiatrist Dr. Robert Borden. Season 2 welcomes Emmy win- ner Archie Panjabi of "The Good Wife" fame to the show as the head of a secret division of the NSA that's been tracking Doe's case since season 1. At this year's San Diego Comic-Con, executive producer Martin Gero ("Stargate: Atlantis") praised Panjabi, who broke the hearts of millions of "The Good Wife" fans with her departure from the series in sea- son 6. "Every day there was a three- or four-page scene she was driving," said Gero. "She's amazing." Luke Mitchell ("Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.") is introduced in the season 2 premiere as well. He plays a mysterious character known as Roman, who appears to have some connection to the shadowy organization responsible for send- ing Doe to the FBI. He also has some connection to Doe's past, as a season 1 flashback to her child- hood showed a boy with a similar scar to the one on Roman's face.
