3rD In THe BurG
e heat was on at July's 3rd in the Burg, a monthly
arts celebration and festival in Harrisburg. e steamy
weather, though, didn't deter a healthy crowd from
weaving in and out of more than 30 participating
venues in Midtown and downtown. Several vendors
in the Broad Street Market were open for the first
time, offering samples as customers browsed, bought
and socialized. It was the perfect night for a little
art, some music, a cold drink and a stroll around
the neighborhood.
PuMP PrIMerS
A parade of vintage fire trucks proceeded down Front
Street and nestled into Riverfront Park for the annual
PA Pump Primers, a showcase of antique fire equipment.
All afternoon long, pumpers sucked in water from the
Susquehanna River and spewed it out in beautiful
streams, as owners happily chatted with onlookers about
their treasured rigs. e event attracted plenty of families,
who also enjoyed food, games and music. e Central
Pennsylvania Chapter of the Antique Fire Apparatus
Club of America puts on the unique celebration each year.
