Under Ground • Safe Rooms • Drive over garage floor model www.integritystormshelters.com FEMA Storm Shelter Rebate program application re-opened The Indiana Depart- ment of Homeland Securi- ty (IDHS) is re-opening a voluntary reimbursement for Indiana residents who want to build a storm shel- ter in their home. When the program was first launched, some participants didn't read details and were not aware that this was a rebate program. Participants must complete and pay for the project to receive the finan- cial support offered. IDHS wants to raise awareness to residents due to interest be- ing high. Funds for the program will be made available for up to 53 applicants. Those interested must complete an online application at http:// bit.ly/1TijCt4. Applicants must provide information about their home, including the year it was built, the par- cel ID number and if it's lo- cated in a flood plain. Appli- cations will be reviewed by IDHS Mitigation staff. The program does offer a 75 percent rebate (up to $4,500) for the construction and installment of a Feder- al Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) compliant safe room. Those who participate will be required to obtain a build- ing permit from a certified building department and have the safe room inspect- ed during installation and/ or after installation comple- tion. Participants will also be required to build their safe rooms to meet or ex- ceed the standards dictated in FEMA 320 or 361 guide- lines. Willis arrested for OVWI after driving to jail to bond out her boyfriend Three others arrested of drunken driving charges By Andy Heuring A woman arrested af- ter she drove to the jail in- toxicated to bond her boy- friend out of jail and a man seen drinking whiskey in his truck while parked at a con- venience store were two of the four people arrested for drunken driving last week in Pike County. Kay Ann Willis, 62, of 8268 S. Holman Rd, Monroe City was arrested at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday after she drove to the jail to bond out her boyfriend. Petersburg Police Cpl. Jared Simmons said Willis arrived at the jail at about 2:30 a.m., and while talk- ing to jail personnel they noticed a strong smell of an alcoholic beverage. Of- ficer Simmons went out to talk with Willis and said she had slurred speech and poor manual dexterity. Cpl Simmons said Willis told him she had driven to the jail. She failed field so- briety tests and tested 0.125 percent for blood alcohol content. The legal limit in Indiana is 0.08 percent. Willis was preliminari- ly charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. A Monroe City man was arrested after an off-duty Sheriff's Deputy saw him sit- ting in a pickup truck drink- ing from a whiskey bottle in the parking lot of Casey's. Jesse Pace, 63, of 8268 S. Holman Rd., Monroe City, was arrested by Deputy Dal- las Killian. Kilian said he went to check on the report and saw the truck driving from the parking lot, and he followed it north on SR 57. It then turned into the liquor store parking lot, circled back to 57 and went back to Casey's. Deputy Killian said it went into the lane of oncom- ing traffic as it turned onto Fourth Street. He stopped the vehicle as it returned to Casey's parking lot. Killian said when he talk- ed with Pace he could imme- diately smell the odor of al- cohol, and Pace admitted he had been drinking. Pace failed field sobriety tests. He was taken to the Pike County Jail, where he tested 0.12 percent for blood alcohol content. Pace was arrested on a preliminary charge of operating a vehi- cle while intoxicated. An Owensboro, Ky., man was arrested after he was stopped for driving 80 mph in a 70 zone on I-69. Brian K. Tanner, 49, of 418 Reid Rd., Owensboro, was arrested by Pike Coun- ty Deputy Buck Seger near the 40 -mile marker on I-69. Deputy Seger said Tan- ner was driving while sus- pended. While talking with Tanner, Seger said he no- ticed slow, lethargic speech and bloodshot eyes similar to someone under the influ- ence of marijuana. During a search of the ve- hicle Seger said police found a partially burned marijua- na cigarette. Tanner failed three of four field sobriety tests and was taken to the Daviess Community Hospi- tal, where he tested positive for amphetamines, metham- phetamine and marijuana. A Winslow man was ar- rested after he was stopped for speeding. Randall Wayne Wedding, 53, of 1507 E. Log- town Road, was stopped by Indiana State Trooper Hunt- er Manning for driving 71 mph in a 40 zone south of Winslow near CR 375 S at about 7:45 p.m. Friday. According to State Police Trooper Manning's inves- tigation revealed Wedding had a blood alcohol content of 0.12 percent. He was tak- en into custody on a prelim- inary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Want to share your news with others?
