The context in which a person lives his or her life largely determines how they will be remembered by those who knew and loved them. Another word for context is perspective. In other words, our lives are a culmination of what we believe and how we lived out those beliefs. What is the composition of a "good life?" I realize this sounds cliché but a "good life" does not really have to do with wealth or even health. Even though both of those can be used to accentuate living, I have seen wealthy and healthy people waste both of those blessings. As a result, they lived and died without making much of an impact. A "wasted life" is lived with the skewed perspective of pride, selfi shness and isolation. On the other hand, I have seen those who have lived relatively short lives and those who were not rich in earthly measures be eulogized as making a difference in those who knew them. The worth of a life is not necessarily measured in quantity but in quality. You see, the compilation of our life we will be remembered not by what we kept but what we gave away. Don't get this confused with giving away money or possessions which can often be self-serving. Those who truly make an impact in this world, are those who give of themselves. The context of our life will determine the amount of love which we displayed for God and for others. Living life within this framework will ultimately be rewarding. It is good to take a lesson from the greatest man who walked the face of this earth, who said, "Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall save it."
