A
nthony J. Costello,
former general
manager and
publisher of the
Catholic Courier, died
March 14, 2016. He was
78 years old.
He served as president of the NYPA
board of directors in 1981.
He was a lifelong Rochester resident and
a graduate of East High School. In 1966 he
began working at the Catholic Courier, then
known as the Catholic Courier Journal or
Courier-Journal. During his 18-plus-year
tenure, he served as the Courier's advertising
director, and later general manager and
publisher, before leaving the paper in 1985.
He went on to become a prominent real-
estate developer in the Rochester area.
Mr. Costello is survived by his wife,
Elaine; son, Brett; daughters, Lynette,
Alicia and Andrea; and 12 grandchildren.

he dress, fashioned out of Sullivan County Democrat newspapers, is the
latest fashion sweeping the state, and goes well with the Sullivan County
Democrat martini (available at The Print Restaurant in Chelsea, NYC), the
Democrat March (attached) and the The Sullivan County Democrat dance.
