Earlier this year, more than 85 posters were proudly displayed and judged at the North Carolina Highway Patrol Headquarters located in downtown Raleigh. The posters were created by children from the North Carolina Boys and Girls clubs designed around the theme "Bring Our Missing Children Home." After a close contest, Karen's poster was chosen as the fi rst place winner for the state, followed by second place winner Shaniya Hill from the Boys and Girls Club of Sanford and third place winner Daelyn Young from the Boys and Girls Club of Hickory. 10-year old Le's winning poster will now be sent to the U. S. Department of Justice for the national judging and selection process. Once selected, the national winner will then travel to Washington, D.C. to receive an award and participate in the National Missing Children's Day ceremony. "Each year North Carolina's state contest gets bigger and better which means the word is really getting out about safety and prevention, when it comes to missing and abducted children" stated Nona M. Best, supervisor of NCCMP and state's poster contest coordinator. The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons is managed by the State Highway Patrol. For more information on this annual event please contact Nona Best, supervisor of the NCCMP at (919)436-3094.
