Looking for more than just American cheese for your sandwich? Here are some ideas to elevate the humble sandwich. Crispy bacon & brie grilled cheese sandwich with caramelised onions For the caramelised onions 3 large onions, sliced 2 tablespoons olive oil ½ teaspoon salt 4 tablespoons brown sugar 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar For the sandwich 10 slices bacon, cooked until crisp brie cheese, sliced 4-6 slices bread of your choice For caramelised onions, heat a large frying pan over medium heat then sauté the onions in the olive oil with the salt until soft. Add sugar & vinegar and allow to caramelise. Set aside. For the sandwich, butter the bread on both sides then top with the onions, brie cheese & bacon. Grill in a hot pan/sand- wich press until golden brown & heated through. Serve immediately. Crispy Garlic Bread Grilled Cheese Sandwiches Sliced sandwich bread Sliced Cheese of choice Butter, softened or melted Garlic powder Dried parsley Parmesan Cheese, shredded Spread or brush 2 slices of bread with butter and sprinkle each buttered side with garlic and parsley. Sprinkle a few table- spoons of Parmesan cheese over each buttered side of bread, gently pressing the cheese into the bread. Heat a non-stick skil- let over medium heat and place one slice of bread, buttered side down into the skillet. Top with cheese and remaining slice of bread. Cook, flipping halfway through, until bread is golden brown, parmesan cheese is crispy, and inside cheese is melted. Lasagna Grilled Cheese 4 slices of thick bread (any kind you like) 2 Tbsp butter, softened 2 Tbsp pasta sauce 2 Tbsp ricotta cheese 4 large tomato slices (optional) 2 meatballs cut into slices (optional) 2 slices mozzarella (or 1/4 c shredded) 2 Tbsp shredded parmesan cheese On each slice of bread, spread 1/2 Tbsp of butter, making sure the whole piece of bread is covered evenly. Flip the bread over so that the buttered side is facing down. Spread 2 Tbsp of pasta sauce on 2 slices of bread. Spread 2 Tbsp of ricotta on the other 2 slices of bread. Place sliced tomatoes & meatball slices over the pasta sauced bread. Top with cheese. Place the other 2 bread slices, ricotta side down, on the cheese. On a greased & preheated skillet over medium heat, cook each side of the sandwich about 2-3 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. 443 S BROADWAY, FOREST CITY 828-247-1002 DARRELL'S AUTO SALES ©Community First Media Community First Media NEW INVENTORY NEW INVENTORY ARRIVING DAILY 2008 TOYOTA SCION TC 2008 TOYOTA SCION TC WAS WAS $ 8,995 8,995 NOW $ NOW $ 7,875 5 sp., nice ride, low miles. 2007 VOLVO XC70 AWD 2007 VOLVO XC70 AWD $ 5,875 5,875 Leather, Navi. 2008 ACURA TL 2008 ACURA TL WAS WAS $ 11,800 11,800 NOW $ NOW $ 10,800 10,800 Good miles. 1995 TOYOTA TRUCK 4X4 $ 4,850 4,850 Hard to fi nd, Hard to fi nd, local trade, 5 sp. local trade, 5 sp. 2005 EXPEDITION EDDIE BAUER $ 8,950 8,950 4x4, 3rd row, leather, TVs 1990 CHEVY CORVETTE 1990 CHEVY CORVETTE $ 6,875 6,875 Convertible Better Hurry! 2003 AUDI A6 2003 AUDI A6 $ 6,875 6,875 Auto., 85K miles, leather. 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER XE 2006 NISSAN FRONTIER XE $ 11,800 11,800 4x4, 5 sp., 4 dr., 4.0 eng. 2006 FORD FREESTAR SEL 2006 FORD FREESTAR SEL $ 4,650 4,650 Beach ready! 1995 TOYOTA TRUCK 4X4 1995 TOYOTA TRUCK 4X4 1995 TOYOTA TRUCK 4X4 1995 TOYOTA TRUCK 4X4 2005 EXPEDITION EDDIE BAUER 20 5 EXPEDITION ED R 2005 EXPEDITION EDDIE BAUER 2 5 E 2005 EXPEDITION EDDIE BAUER 2005 EXPEDITION EDDIE BAUER NOBODY BEATS NOBODY BEATS CHRIS & CHRIS & DARRELL DARRELL ! 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING 2004 CHRYSLER SEBRING Convertible Summer Ready! $ 5,875 5,875 2006 JEEP COMMANDER 2006 JEEP COMMANDER $ 11,800 11,800 4x4, leather seats, 3rd row seat, one of a kind! super cheap 2008 KIA SPECTRA EX 2008 KIA SPECTRA EX 5 speed, gas saver.
