Abele, a five-year veteran of the county executive post, handily defeated Larson with a 31,232-vote lead in preliminary figures. By contrast, Larson in the February primary garnered 708 more votes than Abele. The vote total, according to unofficial results with all precincts having reported as of Wednesday morning: Chris Abele (inc.), 156,524, 56 percent, and Chris Larson, 125,292, 44 percent. Abele, 49, first entered the fray of Milwaukee County politics in 2011 when he took over the remaining term of Gov. Scott Walker, who relinquished his final year in the elected position to assume his duties as the state's top elected official. In 2012, Abele was elected to his first four-year term in office.
