The 39-year-old Ameri- can actress has made a name for herself over the course of her ca- reer in police procedurals, most notably playing assistant district attorney Connie Rubirosa in the Emmy-winning series "Law & Order" and appearing as the same character in its various spinoffs. She also appeared on occasion in "CSI: Miami" as Hor- atio Caine's (David Caruso, "NYPD Blue") wife and Eric Delko's (Adam Rodriguez, "Mag- ic Mike," 2012) sister, Marisol, and starred alongside Ioan Gruf- fudd ("Fantastic Four," 2005) in the short-lived ABC fantasy dra- ma "Forever." Also part of the international FBI team is Tyler James Williams, who plays Russ Montgomery, the unit's resident tech guru. Re- cently appearing in 10 episodes of AMC's record-breaking smash hit "The Walking Dead," Wil- liams is probably best known for his turn as the titular Chris in the critically acclaimed sitcom "Ev- erybody Hates Chris," which was based on the teenage experienc- es of Chris Rock ("Saturday Night Live"). Rounding out the unit are Daniel Henney and relative new- comer Annie Funke. Henney, whose credits include "Big Hero 6" (2014), "Three Rivers" and "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" (2009), plays Special Ops Agent Matt Simmons. Funke's appear- ance in "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" marks her first starring role, coming off bit parts in Showtime's "The Affair," Golden Globe-nominated crime drama "A Most Violent Year" (2014), and the Robert De Niro-led com- edy "The Intern" (2015). It's a solid cast, to be sure, but sometimes even a solid cast can't guarantee success, as an old and long-forgotten "Crimi- nal Minds" spinoff can attest to. "Criminal Minds: Suspect Be- havior" premiered in 2011 with Forest Whitaker ("Platoon," 1986) at the helm, but its ratings bombed and it was quickly can- celed. Gordon, who was also an ex- ecutive producer for that ill-fat- ed spinoff, said at the TCA press tour that they made a mistake with that series, but feels much more confident with "Beyond Borders." Gary Sinise stars in "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders"
