The critical- ly lauded show kicks off its fifth and penultimate season Sunday, Feb. 21, on HBO, with the lead- up to Marnie (Allison Williams, "The Mindy Project") and Desi's (Ebon Moss-Bachrach, "The Royal Tenenbaums," 2001) much-anticipated wedding cer- emony. Once the vows are said and the rings exchanged, a veri- table parade of guest stars hits the screen in HBO's popular fe- male-focused dramedy. Guest stars gracing the "Girls" set for the first time this season include Emmy nominee Lucy Liu ("Ele- mentary"), Frank Wood ("Changeling," 2008) and Corey Stoll ("Ant-Man," 2015). A few favorite characters that have popped up over the past four seasons are returning as well, including Adam's (Adam Driver, "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens," 2015) sister Caroline (Gaby Hoffman, "Field of Dreams," 1989) and Hannah's (Lena Dunham, "Nobody Walks," 2012) parents (Peter Scolari, "Newhart," and Becky Ann Bak- er, "Men in Black," 1997). Rita Wilson ("Sleepless in Se- attle," 1993) is also set to re- prise her role as Marnie's moth- er, along with Jon Glaser ("Parks and Recreation"), who is return- ing to his role as Laird. With a known end date for their show, a luxury in the televi- sion business, "Girls'" writers are working towards a specific destination, and there's only two seasons left to get there. Season 5, the penultimate sea- son of the show, hits the screens Sunday, Feb. 21, on HBO. Just fine without Jack: Fox's hit real-time action thriller just won't stay down. "24" was sup- posed to be dead in the water. After nine seasons and a TV movie, the award-winning show starring Kiefer Sutherland ("Phone Booth," 2002) as feder- al agent Jack Bauer aired its fi- nal episode in 2010 — or so we thought. It rose from the dead and returned as "24: Live Anoth- er Day," a 12-episode "event se- ries," in 2014. And now, "24" is set to make yet another come- back.
