"It was rather sleepy," Mone said of UWM when he joined the univer- sity's faculty in 1989. "It was just a traditional urban college campus." Using UWM's Innovation Accelerator building in Wauwatosa as the backdrop, Mone on Jan. 14 dis- cussed the growing emphasis the university is placing on research and development efforts — and how the local business community plays a vital part in that role. Mone spoke before a crowd of nearly 100 businesspeople who are members of the Wisconsin Innovation Network organization.
