...Tips and Tricks continued from page 5 RSVP card secrets. When sending out RSVP cards, number the corners to keep track of responses—it'll come in handy if you don't receive a response or can't read the handwriting. Another great use for the cards? Create a custom guest song request list for your reception. "Add a fill-in-the-blank on the card with 'I will dance if you play blank song' to get some fun requests from your guests ahead of time," says local wedding expert Jean Shonkwiler of Premier Bride, Milwaukee and SE Wisconsin. She also suggests using a glue stick to make sealing envelopes easier. Let your guests personalize your guestbook—and create a keepsake. Shonkwiler shares, "A unique guestbook can leave a lasting impression for both guests and the couple of honor." Make your day completely personalized to you—have guests snap a photo of themselves for the book, sign a framed picture, or leave advice for you and your new spouse on pieces of cloth to be turned into a quilt. This is your day—find what fits your wedding the best. Bridal headpiece and shoes. If you're having an outdoor wedding, consider adding decorative veil weights that gently and discreetly clip on so it stays in place. "Be sure to break in your shoes before your wedding day and do not wear new shoes to your rehearsal dinner—the last thing you want is sore feet going into your big day," adds Shonkwiler. Create a bridal emergency kit. Include things like a sewing kit, extra earring backs, antacid, spray-on spot remover, and more so you're never left scrambling for a necessity. Smart moves for makeup and hair. If you're wearing an updo, have your designer do it with day-old hair, not freshly washed hair. Day-old hair typically has products/oils in it that help the updo stay in place and look flawless all day. Opt for waterproof mascara to keep your makeup from running. You can even layer it over your favorite lengthening or curling mascara for extra coverage. Reduce your sodium and dairy. Watch your intake up to a week before to reduce eye puffiness and overall bloating. 6 • Wonderful World of Weddings • Conley Media • January 2016 Image provided by Cheryl Jacobs Photography
