This web page was created by a committee of technology service staff members who all shared the workload and added their input to get it up and running. They wanted to change it because they know people like to see something new each year. Now not only was the design changed, but other features on the web page as well. However, in regards to the new layout, the staff wanted to update it and make it more in line with other schools to be competitive with their sites. Laura Fletcher, Tech. Support Specialist, said, "We wanted there to be more ease of use and to display the content in an easier fashion." Some of the new features included on the new web page are teachers' classes, separate sites, and a new calendar system. On the old website, a person could go to the teacher's web page to see what classes they have or click on a link to take you to a different page they had set up for the class period. On the new website, teachers can set up pages directly on it for their classes and students can prescribe to those pages. When a student prescribes to the site then they receive emails when their teacher updates the site. Also, the staff separated the different sites such as the District Office or Salisbury instead of having them all clumped together on the same page. Now when someone visits the District Office page, they won't have to navigate through high school sports or vice versa. One of the other changes is the calendar because of outdated events; the new web page keeps a running list of events to keep people updated. There were a few glitches that have been dealt with along the way. The main one was when anyone tried to search for RBHS online, the old website would pop up and lead people to a dead end. But now, Google refreshed the link so it should lead to the website. The staff is working on it frequently and Jakob Woods, Tech. Support Assistant, calls it a "work in progress". Woods also said, "There are some things we just can't edit, but we are trying our best to match it to what people want." To further fit the staff and student needs anyone can give them feedback by going to this specific link www.surveymonkey. com/r/D9FXCFB to submit opinions about the new site. Every year throughout the North state there are countless options for halloween entertainment, and this year is no different. From haunted houses to corn mazes and trick or treating, there are a plethora of options to partake in throughout the month. Some of the biggest events in the community are held at Hawes farm, Nash, Lassen View, Reeds Creek and Home Depot. At Hawes, you can go through 2 miles of a corn maze, chose from 17 different acres of pumpkins, ride a mechanical bull, shoot zombies with paintball guns, ride a replica of the train that was present at the joining of the Continental Railroad, or go on a series of zip lines. This year, they modeled the corn maze after local soccer-phenom Megan Rapinoe, who played on the U.S. Women's World Cup team last year. During the night, they open up two more haunted corn mazes, one of which is themed after aliens and the other is modeled for Zombies. In addition to all of that, they have box cars stacked with each other. Another big haunted attraction in Shasta County is Nash's haunted house, which junior Marissa Mills attended. When asked about her favorite part, she replied, "My favorite part was probably the cage part, where they put you in an elevator/cage and the lights are turned off, then they start shaking the cage." She said she'd definitely recommend it, as, "It was a lot of fun because the were scary parts, but it was a cool set up and there was always something going on around you. The details were all really well thought out and it showed how much effort they put into it." Grace Gwaltney, a junior, said, "The corn maze was pretty scary this year, I was running through and started getting chased by a dude with a chainsaw." Also, she remarked that the zombie shoot was entertaining, as it is a little bit bigger than last years. In years past, Lassen View has held a carnival in the gym with tons of booths for kids including face painting and
