Making a commitment to cancer patients' care UW Cancer Center at ProHealth Care is thriving after August opening By Chris Bennett Special to The Freeman CITY OF PEWAUKEE — To hear Stephanie Orze- chowski describe the lunch she recently enjoyed one might wonder if she ever dined on a meal so scrump- tious. Orzechowski partook of a turkey burger on a whole wheat bun with a kale salad and a citrus flavored, sugar- free green iced tea. She did not enjoy such fare at an upscale eatery or side- walk café. Orzechowski, vice president of regional relations for UW Health, enjoyed her meal at the UW Cancer Center at ProHealth Care in the City of Pewau- kee. "One of the big things I personally like is the dietary department in the new building has really taken a stand on healthy options for patients, family and staff," Orzechowski said. "They've taken a lot of attention to detail, as far as the food." Attention to detail is prevalent and pervasive in the new facility, which opened in August along Highway 164 just north of Interstate 94. The commit- ment to cancer patients and their needs reaches far beyond food. "I think that's coming from that patient involve- ment or caregiver involve- ment with what patients want," Orzechowski said. "I think listening to patients and caregivers made a dif- ference within the design of the building." The facility is operated in concert by ProHealth Care, UW Health and Aurora Health Care. "As one of the state's lead- ing providers in cancer care and research, Aurora is pleased to collaborate with UW Health and ProHealth Care to be able to bring our expertise and services to the table in this way to help more people live well," said Rick Klein, executive vice president of Aurora's Enter- prise Business Group. "The innovative collaboration is designed to enhance cancer care for patients in Wauke- sha County and surround- ing communities. It brings together – in one convenient location – all of the physi- cians, staff, diagnostics and treatment technology that cancer patients need."
