Additionally, author Gary Hess will discuss his family history in the cooperage business and his new book, "Roll Out the Barrels." Hess will have artifacts from the cooperage on display and will hold a book signing after his presentation. Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for children 6 and older. Children 5 and under and OCHS members are free. All proceeds benefit the Pioneer Village Hall capital campaign. Special scheduled presentations include: 11 a.m. - Herb Society will speak about specific herbs. Members will have live plants to show to all, mint water and some other food samples. They plan to serve a savory bean soup. This was a soup that was common in Germany. The topic of their presentation will be "Taste & Smell the Herbs" and will include a discussion about 12 herbs and Savory, the 2015 Herb of the Year. The presentation includes growing, propagating and sharing, using and preserving herbs. Some recipes will be included. 1 p.m. - Gary Hess, author of a new book, "Roll Out the Barrels," will talk about his book and family history. His grandfather, Frank J. Hess, came to the United States from Bohemia and started the Frank J. Hess and Sons Cooperage in Madison after working hard as an apprentice at cooperages in Chicago and Prairie du Chien. The factory was in business for more than 60 years and supplied barrels to breweries throughout the state, as well some well- known breweries around the country. Hess will have some artifacts from the cooperage on display and will hold a book signing after his presentation. 3:30 p.m. - Our Lady of the Rosar, Children's Choir sing-along. The Children's Choir of about a dozen young singers will hold a sing-along for everyone, with familiar songs, hymns and anthems. The course also provides practical techniques for adjusting to these changes to ensure the driver's own safety and that of others on the road. During the course, participants learn about current rules of the road and how to operate their vehicles more safely in today's increasingly challenging driving environment. Grill-out and celebration of automotive education excellence Time: 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Where: Grafton High School, 1950 Washington St., Grafton Join instructor Carl Hader and administrators Mel Lightner, Scott Mantei and Kevin Deering in celebrating the excellence of the Automotive Education Department at Grafton High School. Brats, burgers and fixings will be served from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., followed by a presentation highlighting the history of automotive education, the current state of the program and facilities and a vision of the new facilities. Sept. 30 through Oct. 18 Second Fiber Arts Biennale: Wisconsin State of the Art Where: Wisconsin Museum of Quilts & Fiber Arts, N50 W5050 Portland Road, Cedarburg Fiber arts from the four corners of Wisconsin will be on display. More than 50 artists were selected to participate, encompassing jewelry, wall quilts, collage, rugs, clothing, quilts, beadwork, embroidery, sculpted fibers and works made by knitting, crocheting, felting and punch needle embroidery. Visitors to the museum will be asked to vote on their favorite piece to win the "Best of Show" award. The winner and runners up will be announced at the WMQFA's Fall University Day on Oct. 3.
