MILWAUKEE — This
summer had the strongest
summer home sales volume
since 2005, according to data
released by the Wisconsin
Realtors Association.
Home sales increased
3 percent in August com-
pared with that same month
last year, and the median
price rose 2.9 percent to
$161,500 compared with that
same period, the data
showed.
"A typical summer
accounts for about 32 per-
cent of annual sales, and
this year we were up 14 per-
cent over last year — mak-
ing summer 2015 the
strongest summer volume
since 2005 before the reces-
sion," said K.C. Maurer, the
2015-16 WRA board chair-
man, in a statement.
There were 7,575 homes
sold statewide in August.
Every region of the state
had strong summer sales
compared with the same
three summer months of
2014.
Areas that performed the
best were heavily urban-
ized, according to the WRA.
Sales increased 17.1 percent
in the northeast region, rose
15.1 percent in the south
central region and grew 13.9
percent in the southeast
region of the state. In addi-
tion, sales outpaced last
summer by 12.7 percent in
the north, 11.1 percent in the
west and 8.4 percent in the
central region.
