Howell Avenue Milwaukee, WI 53207 245590001 Questions? Please call 262-513-2680 WAUKESHA — A motion to delay the trial of the two Slender Man stabbing suspects while a state court reviews appeals to a Waukesha County judge's deci- sion to try the girls as adults has been denied. Attorney Anthony Cotton, who represents Morgan Geyser, filed the motion with the Second District Court of Appeals earlier this month, but on Friday the court rejected the request to stay circuit court proceedings, accord- ing to online records. Cotton and attorneys for Geyser's co- d e f e n d a n t , Anissa Weier, each filed appeals to W a u k e s h a C o u n t y Circuit Court J u d g e M i c h a e l Bohren's deci- sion to try the two 13-year-old girls in adult court rather than waive them into the juvenile system. Cotton had previously asked Bohren to remove a jury trial scheduled for Oct. 15 from the court's calendar and convert a Sept. 21 motion hearing into a scheduling conference to address whether the Court of Appeals has taken action on the interlocutory appeal petitions. Geyser's attorneys hoped to delay the trial while "the defense addresses the appellate issues," Cotton wrote in a Sept. 4 motion to adjourn. A phone message left for Cotton was not immediate- ly returned. Weier and Geyser stand accused of stabbing their female class- mate 19 times and leaving her to die in the woods off Big Bend Road in May 2014 to show their allegiance to the fictional online horror character Slender Man. The girl survived, and both defendants are currently charged with attempted first-degree inten- tional homicide. The appeals court has not yet issued a ruling on either girl's appeal, and lists an anticipated due date for that decision as Sept. 23. — Matt Masterson, Conley News Service Motion to delay Slender Man trial denied Weier Geyser A Laureate Group Senior Community 2500 E.
