Jen Strum and Jaimie Schultz are the co-owners of Soul Bottom Wellness, 120 E. Wisconsin Ave., above Vino Etcetera, and they're bring- ing a holistic centered approach to healing to Oconomowoc. Strum and Schultz each have their own specialities they're uniting under the roof of Soul Bottom to heal the complete person. Strum focuses on the phys- ical body. She is a holistic health and wellness coach working with people to address their nutrition, exercise, sleep cycle and lifestyle changes to prevent disease or minimize the symptoms of a disease they have. She also has a special- ized focus on hormonal fat loss. Schultz is an advanced energy practitioner who focuses on the energetic body. Strum describes it as addressing blockages in the body's energy that affect health on a cellular level and cause disease. "We just realized how awe- some it was being two sis- ters and having these pas- sions that just complement- ed each other," Strum said. "You can't help but to bring them together and help other people. It's great to be part of the community and to support people on their health journeys." The sisters' individual journeys Both Strum and Schultz had their own ways of get- ting to Soul Bottom. Strum said she had an interest in "eating right and moving my body right for a long time." However, she said as she was growing she was overwhelmed by the amount of information available. She started focusing on health through the idea of running as much as possi- ble. As she ran more events, she realized she was starting to see more unhealthy side effects than healthy ones. Then she had her "huge light bulb and aha moment." She realized what is put into your body is just as impor- tant as what you do with your body. Strum went to school at the Institute of Integrated Nutrition and focused on dietary theories. She then gained a certification in hor- monal fat loss. She is taking her focus and helping people improve their lives through the physical side of every- thing. Schultz had an entirely different journey to get to Soul Bottom. Strum said she was born with an intuitive gift but she didn't know what to do with it. After hav- ing children she suffered with a brief bout of depres- sion and Strum helped pull her through. "That just catapulted her down the path for her to real- ly look at what her gifts were," Strum said. She went and got certified as an advanced energy medicine practitioner. The two came together and opened Soul Bottom in the middle of August. Amenities available The wellness center fea- tures numerous classes focused for the physical and spiritual sides of a person. There are organic skin care products available. A part- nership with Soul on Yoga will will feature twice-week- ly classes. The center also features a Kombucha bar with two teas on tap. Kombucha tea is loaded with living probiotics in it. Strum said it's "incred- ibly good." The sisters are hoping the wellness center will be an alternative offering to the bustling Oconomowoc nightlife as well, proving a calming environment "you can hang out with your friends in," Strum said.
