As initiator of this resourceful organiza- tion, he continues to develop aspects of the Center that has so quickly grown to become this singular creation of both truthful, healing history and civic pride. Here is now the foremost source of Abraham Lincoln's North Caro- lina origins and authentic repository of the life works of the many research-historians who, some fi rst-hand, ob- tained affi rmations of our 16th President's birth here, as it also serves as the Center for the Town of Bostic's activi- ties. Price works, along with the effort he has begun, to now become the fast-growing, well-founded, respected and visited creation, by the resourceful cadre of exceptional contributors and Staff Volunteer workers. Born and raised in Rutherford County, Keith grew up learning from the bountiful local sources of the personages and circumstances of Nancy Hanks' fi rstborn's birth, a black-haired boy whom she named Abraham, on the Abraham Enloe plantation here on Puzzle Creek in the foothills Blue Ridge escarpment of what was then, young America's Wild West. After leaving home, Price mi- nored in History as he perpetuated this lifetime interest, to later choose to return to Rutherford after a 40 year career and family rearing elsewhere. Back here, he renewed a long association with Tom Melton, local School Principal, Businessman, Farmer and Graduate Engineer and Edu- cator, who gathered and preserved a trove of local lore, writings and other evidences that now are essential part of the ever-growing traditions and collections here. As he worked to help to mark and preserve, Price would study and travel with Melton, to, together make invited presenta- tions to groups and events far and wide. He also worked extensively with Dr. Aaron Hyatt, life- long researcher of Lincoln origins, who accumulated much new Lincoln evidences and personal affi rmations throughout his careers as Dean of Graduate Studies and Assistant to Chancellor at WCU, President of Macon College and General Secretary of Rotary International. One of his "dis- coveries", the last living male of the Tom Lincoln family tree, Ernest Lincoln III, came to spend two days here, during the Center's fi rst Lincoln Origins Forum. Keith realized that all these local signifi cances would likely languish if a comprehensive plan of action was not begun immediately. Price prepared a fi rst meeting of "Friends" as he placed Melton as his usual enthusiastic feature. Tom was promptly named the spiritual honoree for the then-formed Bostic Lincoln Center, Inc. 501(c)3 non-profi t. The fi rst act was the gathering of research-historians at the Lincoln Origins Forum-Symposium here, participated in by many present researchers along the works of earlier research-historians who were featured together for the fi rst time, as Dr. Hyatt closed with His keynote challenge. Melton lived to see the creation of the Center Building, on the Bostic Town Green, passing on few weeks prior to the offi cial open- ing there. His lifelong collection and others', now reside here. Exceptional contributions, collaborations, seminars and attendances come now, thick and fast, as the resourceful workers and contributors daily add to this organizations signifi cance. Over 2,000 Center visitors have come here, from most all States, during the museum's relatively brief existence. It has been nationally and regionally featured in many publications, journals, docu- mentaries and Radio-TV presentations. The Center is open 3 days weekly, Thurs., 1pm-4pm, Fri. and Sat., 10am-1pm.
