OCONOMOWOC — Shorehaven dedicated its new 5,000-square-foot therapy area Saturday, and paid tribute to the organization's Service League of Volunteers, which contributed $200,000 toward new gymnasium equipment. The Oconomowoc Chamber of Commerce conducted a ribbon-cut- ting, HealthReach Reha- bilitation Services staff welcomed the audience, and Shorehaven CEO Ed Somers thanked volunteers for helping to enrich resident lives through the equipment's purchase. The $4.4 million south side campus renovation also includes expanded memory care offerings, a large community room and activities space, and dedicated entrances for Shorehaven Tower assist- ed living residents. Shorehaven Health and Rehabilitation Center received additional upgrades, including patios, screen porches and a third-floor rooftop terrace overlooking Oconomowoc. The entire south side project should be com- pleted by Aug. 1. "Today we honor the contributions made by our Service League of volunteers, creating an evolutionary therapy experience like no other," Somers said. "We pay tribute to our volunteers for their progressive, selfless efforts to enhance senior lives." According to therapy staff, the gym includes both inpatient and portable balance training systems. These address balance problems and facilitate concussion screening management for athletes. An overhead track system running the length of the therapy gym facilitates client equipment use. Patients with limited weight- bearing capacities can launch their rehab program sooner, expedit- ing their own healing process. Cardiovascular aerobic training mechanisms including the SciFit and Biostep work all extremities. Vibration plates assist in neuropa- thy treatments. Graded steps in the gym's center provide navigation train- ing. Other amenities include private treatment rooms and adjustable equipment including parallel bars. A therapy garden out- side the gym provides varied surfaces, eleva- tions and terrains for training in real-life situa- tions. The occupational therapy area includes a full kitchen, laundry area and bathroom facili- ty for thorough training in the activities of daily living. Smart TVs provide on- and off-site training opportunities for staff, and public support and educational groups. — Enterprise Staff Shorehaven campus opens new rehab gymnasium WAUKESHA — Local residents who have watched it being built over the last year can tour the new UW Cancer Center at ProHealth Care from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. UW Health, ProHealth Care and Aurora Health Care have partnered for the new facility, which aims to improve access to treatments for cancer patients. The open house will let residents tour the Cancer Center, located just north of Interstate 94 on Highway 164 in the City of Pewaukee, before it opens on Aug. 10. Attendees of the family-friendly event can meet members of the cancer care team and professionals from the adjacent multispecialty clinic. Outside the clinic, the MEGA Body — an inter- active walk-through exhibit that stretches 50 feet long and 15 feet high — will be on display. Refreshments will include samples of items available in the Center's café. Adults will receive a free first aid kit and children under 15 will receive a soccer ball, while supplies last. The UW Health Cancer Center at ProHealth Care will accommodate 28 infusion therapy patients at one time. Patients receiving chemotherapy can choose to be with other patients during their treatment or in private rooms. If weather conditions are favorable, patients can receive treatment in a rooftop garden adjacent to the infusion therapy area. ProHealth Care's City of Pewaukee clinic will be adjacent to the center. The clinic is home to more than 30 medical providers representing more than a dozen specialties. The new clinic offers family-friendly urgent care that will be available seven days a week with early morning, evening and weekend hours. The all-inclusive clinic features 64 exam rooms and 15 treatment rooms. The clinic will begin seeing urgent care patients in the new building Aug. 8. — Enterprise Staff Cancer Center open house Saturday Submitted photo The UW Cancer Center at ProHealth Care is nearing completion. OCONOMOWOC — After a nation- wide search the YMCA at Pabst Farms Association selected Jon Lange to be the organization's next CEO. Lange, a Greendale native, has been working at the Missoula Family YMCA in Montana as CEO since 2011. He will be replace Bob Denman, who worked for the YMCA at Pabst Farms for over 23 years. "I am thrilled to have Jon join the Y leadership team as CEO," Denman said in a release. "He has an unbeliev- able passion for the Y and is going to be a great fit for the Oconomowoc and Watertown communities collectively." Lange started working at the YMCA at the age of 16 when he was a summer camp counselor at YMCA Camp Minikani. After completing college at the University of Wisconsin-Milwau- kee, he started working at the Y in Green Bay where he would advance in the company until he became the CEO of the Kettle Moraine Y in West Bend. According to the release, in the four years Lange has been working in Montana he more than doubled opera- tion revenues and raised $445,000 for the renovation of its Health and Wellness Center. Lange said during the interview process that his "lifelong career with the Y has taught him, among other things, to 'intentionalize the atmo- sphere of unconditional love, of growing and nurturing those we come into contact with each day.'" — Enterprise Staff New YMCA CEO coming home 83rd Annual LEBANON FIREMEN'S PICNIC JULY 24, 25 & 26 Lebanon Firemen's Park Hwy R • Lebanon Softball & Coed Volleyball Tournaments All Weekend Music Co-Sponsors Tietz Taxidermy United Electric Lebby's Pizza Badger Pest Control Klecker's Htg & A/C Greeb Excavating United Septic & Drain Un.
