ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION PLANNING CONTINUES Planning for the 225th Anniversary of Rutherfordton, Rutherford County's county seat, are taking shape and 2012 promises to be a year fi lled with events, activities, and celebration for citizens of Rutherfordton and the en- tire county. As a permanent memento of the Celebration a limited edition of 225th commemorative coin has been designed by a committee made up of Lynn Padgett, Delores Hill, Deborah Keller, and Karen Andrews. These coins will available for purchase in February. Signage, banners and temporary decals containing the Celebration Logo are being fi nalized and will be ordered soon. Street banners designed by Lynn Padgett and suitable for use not only for the 225th Anniversary but also in future are being ordered and will be in place by the April 14, 2012 kickoff. The Committee also has been working hard to confi rm dates and details for the 225th major events. All of these fi nalized dates will be presented at a preview party set for early February. Among these events in addition to the April 14 Birthday Party are a freedom festival, historic tours, and educational opportunities for young people, citizens and visitors centered around monthly themes. The themes are celebrating a Birthday, Celebration Commerce and Textile Heritage, Celebrating Cultural Heritage, Cel- ebrating Education and Health Care, Celebrating Landmarks and Architecture, Celebrating Gold Heritage with includes the local premier of the UNC-TV documentary on the Bechtlers, Celebrating Revolutionary War Heritage, Celebrating Faith Heritage and Celebrating Freedom.
