EL NACIONAL DE TULSA T-3 VIERNES 20 DE MARZO, 2015 • www.noticiasoklahoma.com ENGLISH RELIGION The War on Religious Freedom-Knowing Your Rights! Recently, we have been hearing about the threat of our Constitution of Religious Freedom Reli- gious. Many churches are now being threatened on many issues that go aga- inst their church bylaws, doctrine and faith. The war on religious freedom has been more prevalent and the threat to exist is on the rise. More churches are being sued because they no longer have the right to hire those who are in opposing viewpoint of their beliefs. The threat of faith based pastors being mandated to marry same sex marria- ges are also on the rise of being sued for sex discrimi- nation if the church refu- ses to marry heterosexuals that do not share their beliefs. This is not all that the war on religious rights are encountering. In fact, IRS now wants to impose the removal of 501 (C ) sta- tus and mandate that the churches obtain commer- cial licenses. This is happe- ning to Evangelical Church in Miami. What we are also finding, that most churches are not up to speed on their legal rights, how to avoid IRS audits, and many other business issues that affects the ministry and potentia- lly, the congregation can lose their church, proper- ty and even be sued perso- nally. The National Hispanic Christian Leadership Con- ference (NHCLC) organi- zation is doing something about it. NHCLC has part- nered with START Church, a national organization that provides support, resources and knowledge to interfaith church leaders on how to defend their church, obtain knowledge about IRS regu- lations and much more. The Oklahoma Chapter of the NHCLC is sponso- ring a free event on March 14, 2015. The event is for Interfaith and Hispanic Pastoral Leaders and infor- mational setting addres- sing various topics on legis- lative issues. One key note speaker is Daniel Perez, from StartCHURCH. Daniel Perez is the Director of His- panic Community Rela- tions at StartCHURCH. As a church planting specia- list he has helped pastors and ministry leaders with setting up their churches and ministries legally with the best legal foundation. Having helped hundreds of organizations has allowed him to serve very specific needs of churches when it comes to their legal struc- ture as well as ensuring the right strategies for growth and expansion. The goal of StartCHURCH is to facilita- te a culture of compliance in Hispanic churches across America. Interfaith leaders will have an opportunity to have dialogue with Oklaho- ma StartCHURCH National Representative. In addition, the NHCLC and Christian United for Israel will be hosting a lun- cheon for elected officials and Sr. Interfaith Leaders on US Israel Relations. Oklahoma State Political Director, Lydia D'Ross, will be speaking about NHCLC Hispanic Israel Leadership Coalition that will be kicked off at the NHCLC Annual Board Convention in Hous- ton, Texas, April 28-30, 2015. Other speakers like Dr. Ricardo Inunza, former Immigration Cabinet Advi- ser to President Ronald Reagan will be addressing Immigration and how the interfaith churches can obtain more information on what is going to happen next as the process with DOJ and DHS begins the immigrant application pro- cess. Also speaking is Eddie Rentz, Convoy of Hope who has helped millions of people feed the hungry around the world and has been instrumental bringing humanitarian aid to feed the hungry in Latin Cou- ntries. Invited to speak, Oklahoma City President, Travis Hartfield, Office of Faith-based and Engage- ment, Jewish and Mus- lim Faith based leaders, Oklahoma Statewide Elec- ted Officers and Educatio- nal Leaders. Lastly, Christians Uni- ted For Israel Southeast Director, Lyndon Allen and Oklahoma CUFI City Direc- tor, Calvin Battle will be the luncheon keynote speaker, addressing elected officials and Sr Interfaith Leaders sharing about the upco- ming Israel elections that is happening this week in Israel and the threat of Iran use of nuclear weapons and ISIS threat to alienate the United States.
