April 1 through April 12 "Doris White: Abstract Evolution" and "In Light We Trust" Where: Cedarburg Art Museum, W63 N675 Washington Ave., Cedarburg Two exhibitions feature nationally recognized artists: "Doris White: Abstract Evolution" is an exhibition featuring a Wisconsin artist who won national awards for her watercolor paintings in early years and transitioned to purely non- objective works by later years. Cedarburg Road, Mequon April 1 through May 3 68th Annual Ozaukee County Art Show & Gallery of Student Art Where: Cedarburg Cultural Center, W62 N546 Washington Ave., Cedarburg An annual tradition at the CCC, the Ozaukee County Art Show features the works of both amateur, professional and student artists residing, working or teaching in Ozaukee County. Ribbons are awarded to the best in each category. The Gallery of Student Art features the best work created by Cedarburg public and parochial schools. he annual exhibit showcases both the 2D and 3D works of youth from kindergarten through eighth grades. First Wednesdays, April 1 and May 6 Open Chess Time: 6 p.m. Where: U.S.S. Liberty Memorial Library, 1620 11th Ave., Grafton Grafton Public Library hosts open chess on the first Wednesday of every month. Everyone is welcome to join, no matter age or skill level. If you don't know how to play, come learn! Chess sets will be provided or you may bring your own. For information, call the library at 375-5315. Blueburg Café Open Mic Night Time: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Where: Cedarburg Cultural Center, W62 N546 Washington Ave., Cedarburg Cost: $2 donation appreciated; qualifies entrant for door prize entry The Blueburg Café offers Plug and Play Open Mic nights on the first Wednesday of each month, showcasing musicians, singers, poets, dancers, comedians, filmmakers and story-tellers. First Wednesdays, April 1 through May 6 North Shore Marine Detachment meeting Time: 7 p.m. Where: Peter Wollner American Legion Post, W57 N481 Hilbert Ave., Cedarburg Area Marines are invited to join the North Shore Marine Detachment 1289. First Fridays, April 3 through May 1 First Fridays series – The Invaders Time: Opening act at 5:30 p.m., headliners at 7:30 p.m. Where: Cedarburg Cultural Center, W62 N546 Washington Ave., Cedarburg Cost: $5 at the door for non- members and free for CCC members and children under 5 Reflecting Cedarburg as a cultural destination, First Fridays provides an opportunity for families to come together to partake in an artistic experience, including unique educational elements for youth. Dinner will be available for purchase from food trucks and indoor food vendors from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Other activities include a local handmade art show, kids' crafts and games, dancing, cash bar and camaraderie. Saturday, April 4 Story Art – "The Golden Egg" Collage Time: 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Where: Cedarburg Library, Community Room, W63 N589 Hanover Ave., Cedarburg Enjoy the delightful story of "The Golden Egg," by A. J. Wood and read by Mrs. K. Can Duck find his Easter egg of gold? Come find out. Afterward, we will have fun collaging a few giant paper Easter eggs with colorful papers. The bunny will have left an egg for each participant! Event open to all families. Registration is required for this event. Easter Egg Day Time: 10 a.m., rain or shine Where: Park Shelter, Grady Park, Saukville Cost: Free to children of Saukville 10 years old and under Saukville Moose Family Center 1043 and the Landt- Thiel American Legion Post 470 will co-host the annual Saukville Easter egg Dahs. Following the hunt there will be prizes, refreshments and the Easter Bunny in person.
