he overlook at the Twin Lights, a pair of lighthouses
located 246 feet above sea level on the headlands of
the Navesink Highlands, offers an expansive vista of New
York City, the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, Coney Island,
and Sandy Hook—as well as a view that "peeks" over the
curvature of the earth and extends it nearly twenty miles
out to sea. Located in the borough of Highlands and with-
in a short distance from Mount Mitchell Scenic Overlook
(the highest point on the Atlantic seaboard from southern
Maine to the Yucatan Peninsula), the Lights offer these
breathtaking views with a taste for history you can walk
around and through.
